Streator is ready for Cruise Night to return

Events slated Saturday for downtown

Streator’s downtown will be hoppin’ Saturday.

The Dream Machines Car Club’s Car Show and Cruise Night is scheduled to return Saturday, Sept. 4, after it was canceled last year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The car show is scheduled noon to 3 p.m. at City Park with more than 70 awards being presented at 3 p.m., including in street machines, original/restored, pickup and motorcycle classes.

The cruise is scheduled 5 to 10 p.m. in downtown Streator with registration 3 to 7 p.m. on the south side of City Park. Registration is $10 or participants can register for both the car show and cruise for $25. Those who register for both also receive an escort to VIP parking for the cruise night.

As people cruise the downtown, other cars, trucks and motorcycles will be parked along Main Street for people to view. Businesses are advertising extended hours during Cruise Night and vendors of all kinds are expected to set up along the sidewalks. Live entertainment will be hosted by several bars and fraternal organizations.

The cruise route is set along Main Street from Wasson to Park, around the City Park, and from Bloomington Street to Bridge Street to create a loop. All cruisers are expected to stay on the route.

A 50/50 raffle with a minimum payout of $3,000 will be drawn. Tickets are $5 for each or six for $25. The winner doesn’t have to be present to win. The proceeds go toward the car club and to the funding of the car show and cruise night events downtown.
