La Salle County child development center names new director

Amber Cavanaugh joins SRRC after working at Step by Step

Amber Cavanaugh recently joined the Starved Rock Regional Center for Therapy & Child Development as the new director of the child development center.

Cavanaugh has more than 12 years of experience in child care as a teacher and most recently as the assistant director at Step by Step in Ottawa. She also volunteers as a teacher in the Children’s Ministry at Crossbridge Community Church and sings on the worship team. When not volunteering, Cavanaugh works some weekends at Monte’s Riverside Inn as a server.

“I’m very enthused about joining the staff here at SRRC andam looking forward to getting to know everyone,” said Amber. “I am committed to bringing additionaltraining and resources to our staff and providing the best possible care toeach and every child.”

Cavanaugh grew up in LaMoille and has lived in Ottawa for 10 years. She and her husband Jason have four children (Katie, Andrew, Hunter and Gaige) and a French bulldog named Chip. She said she enjoys spending time with friends and family, traveling, watching Disney movies and training and running marathons for Team World Vision. She has completed three marathons to date.

SRRC is a nonprofit agency that serves over 500 children each year in La Salle, Bureau and surrounding counties. Services include a free Autism Resource Center; occupational, speech and developmental therapy to children throughout the Starved Rock area; a child care center for children with and without special needs in Ottawa; and toddler classes in Ottawa.
