Roughly $72.8 million from the American Rescue Plan funding is on the way to La Salle, Bureau, Livingston, Putnam, Marshall and Stark counties.
That total amount includes about $24.2 million for cities and villages and about $48.6 million coming to counties.
The U.S. Department of the Treasury is preparing to release guidance on how the funds can be spent. The money will be dispersed in two separate portions. Counties and designated “metropolitan” cities will receive their first portion directly from the U.S. Treasury no later than May 10.
All other cities and villages will receive their distributions through the state of Illinois. The state has an additional 30 days to distribute the recovery funds, which means cities and villages will receive their first portion by June 9, and second payment no earlier than 12 months after the first payment.
