Waste Management will start collecting yard waste Thursday, April 1, in Streator.
Acceptable yard waste is waste typically derived from landscaping, including grass clippings, leaves, trimmed branches and shrubbery. Waste Management will inspect yard waste bags for contaminants. Yard waste bags that contain any plastics, trash, dirt, sod or other non-compostable materials and contaminants will be tagged and left at the curb.
Branches and brush must be bundled and tied with string or twine (not wire). Branches must be cut into lengths of 4 feet or less, and each branch should be no larger than 4 inches in diameter. Each bundle must not weigh more than 50 pounds. Unbundled brush will not be collected.
Yard waste collection will continue through Nov. 30.
