The Ottawa City Council met briefly Tuesday morning to approve a grant agreement between the city of Ottawa and the Illinois Housing Development Authority for its Strong Communities Program.

This program provides Ottawa with a $250,000 grant that can aid the city in tearing down abandoned or unlivable homes.

The council also approved city representatives for collective bargaining purposes, a forestry agreement with the Morton Arboretum, and an agreement with Republic Services regarding North Central Area Transit’s waste and recycling.
