Indian Valley Vocational Center honors students at annual awards night

Earlville, Leland, Newark, Sandwich, Serena and Somonauk students among those honored

Indian Valley Vocational Center hosted its annual awards night May 6 at the Montcler Hotel.  

Local and memorial scholarships were presented. Recognition of graduating seniors with certificates of completion was the highlight of the evening. Several hundred family members and friends were in attendance to congratulate all of these students on their accomplishments.

Scholarships were awarded to the following students: Sandwich Rotary Club-Monzerrat Padilla (Yorkville); George Murphy Memorial-Zachary Tholl (Hinckley-Big Rock); John “Swanie” Swanson Memorial-Caleb Gomes (Sandwich) and Luis Navarro (Plano); Doran Greif Memorial-Caleb Gomes (Sandwich) and Luis Navarro (Plano); Rose Greif Memorial-Kiley Duffy (Sandwich);  Roy Wright Memorial Welding-Cameron Rodriguez (Welding); Festival on Wheels/Tom Ciolek Memorial-Michael Hillesheim (Yorkville); John Kedzierski Memorial-Caleb Gomes (Sandwich); Richard Wasson Memorial-Nevada Beatty (Sandwich); Pruski Memorial- Catrina Mitchell (Sandwich); Sandwich Park Foundation-Travis Seidelman (Somonauk); Dr. Lucile Gustafson -Paula Ferrer (Sandwich); Student Service Award-Cassandra Weber (Sandwich) and Ellie Hauge (Newark); Karam Family Memorial-Scott Farley (Earlville); Connie Olson Memorial-Emma Roth (Leland); Yorkville Junior Women’s Club-Paulina Rubio (Yorkville); Illinois Restaurant Association Educational Foundation-Austin Lane (Yorkville).

Seniors from IVVC’s 17 career and technical programs were presented with certificates of completion. 

The following students were recognized as Most Outstanding in their programs:  Auto Body Repair-Michael Hillesheim (Yorkville), Zachary Tholl (Hinckley-Big Rock); Auto Technology-Aedan Caraher (Sandwich), Riley Benning (Yorkville), Caleb Gomes (Sandwich); CNA-Rachel Martinez (Plano), Emma Roth (Leland); Computer Programming–Andrew Szafranski (Sandwich); Computer Technology-Veasna Schwingle (Sandwich), Carissa Clark (Indian Creek); Construction Trades-Colton James (Sandwich); Culinary Arts-Carey Coakley (Sandwich);  EMS–Catrina Mitchell (Sandwich); Fire Science- Maurice Sandifer (Plano); Graphic Design–Cara Bonczkowski (Serena), Sean Kelley (Serena); Health Occupations–Akhaia Thurmond (Sandwich), Logan S. The following students were recognized as Most Improved in their program areas: Computer Programming-Caiden Konow (Plano); Culinary Arts-Gabriel Oeters (Hinckley-Big Rock); Fire Science-Nevada Beatty (Sandwich); Teaching Methods - Savannah Kinser (Sandwich).
