Citing the impact of COVID-19 on foot traffic and movie releases, the CEO of the company that owns Family Video said all of the remaining video stores in the chain will close, pushing “us to the end of an era.”
Princeton is home of the lone Family Video store still operational in the area. It is located at 20 W. Century Drive. Family Video stores in Streator recently closed, and the store in Ottawa had relocated before it closed.

A liquidation sale is expected to take place at the more than 250 stores set to close, and many of the stores will remain open until sales are completed of all inventory.
At its peak, the chain had more than 800 stores across the nation.
