A 38-year-old Ottawa man was arrested Tuesday after police said a search found a number of packaged baggies of purported heroin following a stop of his vehicle.
Douglas C. Brue was arrested on complaints of unlawful possession of a controlled substance (heroin) with intent to deliver, driving while license revoked and uninsured motor vehicle. If found guilty, Brue faces four to 15 years in prison.
Ottawa police received a report of a disturbance on the 100 block of Prairie Street. While officers were responding a vehicle reportedly involved in the disturbance left the area, said Ottawa Capt. of Investigations Mike Cheatham. Officers located the vehicle and met with the occupants in the 2700 block of Columbus Street.
Brue was taken to La Salle County Jail with bond being set at $500,000 — with 10% to apply for release. Brue appeared in court Thursday and said he’d hire a private lawyer. His arraignment was scheduled for 9 a.m. Friday, June 11, in Judge Cynthia Raccuglia’s courtroom.
