Vote for La Salle County police departments to receive K-9 grant

$25,000 will be awarded to 10 law enforcement agencies across the nation

A number of police departments in La Salle County have been nominated for The Aftermath K9 Grant, through which $25,000 in grants will be awarded to 10 law enforcement agencies and first responder K9 units across the nation.

The La Salle County Sheriff’s Office, Peru Police Department, Marseilles Police Department and Mendota Police Department have each posted on their Facebook pages encouraging residents to vote for them.

Grants can be used for the expansion or maintenance of existing K-9 Units or to create new units, which is what the La Salle County Sheriff’s Office would like to do. The office is looking to expand its department by adding a K-9 unit.

Voting begins Oct. 19. Popular vote will determine the grant recipients. Vote once every 24 hours at www.aftermath.com/2021-illinois-k9-voting.

Votes may also be submitted once daily on Instagram (@AftermathK9Grant). Also, extra votes can be earned by following on Instagram and Facebook (@AftermathCares)! Tell them who you are voting for in the comments. The winning agencies will be announced Thursday, Oct. 28.
