Ottawa softball has had a fantastic season this spring, and the rest of the state is noticing.
The Pirates softball program — sitting at 15-1 heading into its 4 p.m. showdown with archrival La Salle-Peru today at Veterans Park in Peru — moved up to the No. 1 spot in this week’s Illinois Coaches Association (ICA) poll. Ottawa is ahead of No. 2 Antioch and No. 3 Marion, with familiar foes Sterling at No. 5, L-P at No. 6 and Geneseo at No. 9 this week.
Streator is included in Class 3A’s “Other Teams Receiving Consideration” list.
In Class 2A, Seneca at No. 16 is the lone area team ranked.
In Class 1A, Illini Bluffs sits atop the ICA rankings. Locally, Newark sits at No. 14, with Marquette named in the “Other Teams Receiving Consideration” list.
