The Newark boys basketball squad rolled past Bradford 69-47 in the semifinals of the Princeton Class A Sectional. The Norsemen were led by 20 points from Larry Hilt, 16 points from Shawn Shehane, 12 points from David Olson, and 11 points from Larry Ness.

The Marquette boys hoops club hit 60% from the field, forced 21 turnovers, and led 49-26 at halftime of a 92-64 semifinal win over Wilmington at the Momence Class A Sectional. Tim Bailey poured in 34 points for the Crusaders with Steve Cottingham adding 16 points, Jeff Weber 12 points, and Tom McDonnell 10 points.

The Flanagan boys hoops team topped host Pontiac 45-40 in overtime in the semifinals of the Pontiac Class A Regional. Bill Braksick posted 19 points and 17 rebounds for the Falcons with Matthew Schwerin adding 10 points, and Kurt Albertson eight points and 15 rebounds.

Ed Schaibley paced the Crusaders with 25 points, followed by 21 points from Pat Hayes, and 12 points each from Bob McDonnell and Tom Chalkey.
