The Woodland boys basketball team trailed visiting Lexington by a point heading to the fourth quarter at the Warrior Dome but regrouped to earn a 59-44 triumph. The Warriors’ Matt Hays posted 14 points, nine rebounds, and also became the eighth player in school history to surpass the 1,000-career point mark. Connor Kaminke led the hosts with 20 points, Ryan Starkey added 12 points, and Nate Roemer chipped in nine points while grabbing a game-high 14 rebounds.

The Streator boys hoops squad — behind a pair of late field goals by Steve Limberg, the last with 4.5 seconds remaining — picked up a 62-60 road victory over Putnam County. J.J. Cravatta led the Bulldogs with 24 points while Brock Armstrong posted 16 points.

The Serena girls hoops club defeated host Streator 53-36. The Lady Huskers were paced by 17 points from Amber Morsch and a 13-point, 11-rebound double-double from Julie Rosengren. The Lady Bulldogs were led by Molly Walker’s 14 points and four rebounds, while Amy Yusko registered seven points.

The Streator boys basketball team trailed 9-5 after the opening period but chipped away the final three quarters for a 54-39 victory over host St. Bede at the Academy to improve to 11-1 on the season. Bill Rohlman topped the Bulldogs with a game-best 26 points, while teammate Gary Pellegrine added 12 points.

The Sandwich boys hoops squad outscored visiting Kaneland in all four quarters to grab a 63-51 win. Chuck Miller led the Indians with 16 points with Greg Bares and Gene Curran each netting 10 points.
