La Salle County coronavirus update: 22 new cases, 90 removed from isolation

There were 22 new confirmed COVID-19 cases Tuesday and 90 residents were removed from isolation, according to the La Salle County Health Department.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, there have been 12,602 confirmed and probable COVID-19 cases, and of those, 10,717 residents have been removed from isolation.

Making up Tuesday’s new cases are four boys younger than 13, a girl younger than 13, two teenage boys, three teenage girls, a woman in her 30s, three men in their 40s, two women in their 40s, a man in his 50s, a woman in her 50s, two women in their 60s, a woman in her 70s and a man in his 80s.

Of the 1,475 La Salle County residents tested Saturday, the latest data available from the Illinois Department of Public Health, 2.2% of those tests were returned positive for COVID-19. From May 2-8, the county’s seven-day positivity rate was 4.1% — which is down 0.3% from the previous day’s seven-day rate.

There were 552 more COVID-19 doses administered to La Salle County residents Monday, increasing the total number of doses to 73,797. There are 32,194 fully-vaccinated residents countywide, which is 29.4% of the county’s population.
