La Salle County coronavirus update: 51 new cases Wednesday

39 of 51 the new cases confirmed for residents 20 to 50 years old

There were 51 new COVID-19 cases confirmed Wednesday in La Salle County and 42 residents removed from isolation, according to the La Salle County Health Department.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, there have been 11,959 confirmed and probable cases, and of those, 9,948 have been removed from isolation.

Of the 285 La Salle County residents tested Sunday, the latest data available from the Illinois Department of Public Health, 10.9% of them were returned positive with COVID-19. From April 12-18, the county’s seven-day positivity rate was 5.7%, which is up 0.3% from the previous day.

The county’s positivity rate from Saturday to Sunday jumped from 1.8% to 10.9%, however, on Saturday 1,369 residents were tested for COVID-19, and on Sunday, 285 residents were tested, which are on the high mark for tests Saturday and the low mark for tests Sunday.

Making up Wednesday’s new cases are three boys younger than 13, a girl younger than 13, two teenage boys, nine men in their 20s, two women in their 20s, four men in their 30s, five women in their 30s, five men in their 40s, four women in their 40s, six men in their 50s, four women in their 50s, a man in his 60s, two women in their 60s, two men in their 70s and a woman in her 90s.

On the vaccine front, there were 818 more doses of COVID-19 vaccine administered to La Salle County residents Tuesday, increasing the total number of doses administered countywide to 60,892.

With those new doses administered, there are 24,607 fully-vaccinated residents, which is 22.49% of the county’s population.
