La Salle County coronavirus update: More than 20,000 residents now fully vaccinated

More than 1,000 vaccine doses were administered over the weekend to county residents

More than 1,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses were administered to La Salle County residents over the weekend, pushing the county over the 20,000 mark for residents fully vaccinated.

With 1,135 more doses administered Saturday and Sunday, there now are 20,026 residents fully vaccinated countywide. Overall, 53,245 doses have been administered to county residents.

Additionally, there were 39 new COVID-19 cases Sunday and Monday, according to the La Salle County Health Department and 10 more residents removed from isolation. Since the beginning of the pandemic, there have been 11,659 confirmed and probable cases, and of those, 9,755 have been removed from isolation.

Making up Monday’s new cases are a boy younger than 13, a teenage boy, two men in their 20s, three women in their 20s, six men in their 30s, a woman in her 30s, four men in their 40s, three women in their 40s, a man in his 50s, five women in their 50s, a man in his 60s, five women in their 60s, a man in his 70s, two women in their 70s and three women in their 80s.

Of the 402 La Salle County residents tested Friday, the latest data available from the Illinois Department of Public Health, 5.2% of them returned positive for COVID-19. From April 3-9, the county’s seven-day positivity rate was 4.2% — up 0.1% from the previous day.
