La Salle County coronavirus update: 783 more doses administered Friday

With 19,419 fully-vaccinated residents, county nears 18% vaccinated

La Salle County is nearing 18% of its population being fully-vaccinated after 783 more doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were administered Friday.

In total, there have been 52,110 doses administered, leading to 19,419 fully-vaccinated residents, which is 17.75% of the county’s population.

There were 33 new COVID-19 cases announced Saturday and 14 residents were removed from isolation. Since the beginning of the pandemic, there have been 11,620 confirmed and probable cases, and of those, 9,745 have been removed from isolation.

Making up Friday’s new cases are two girls younger than 13, a man in his 20s, two women in their 20s, five men in their 30s, two women in their 30s, two men in their 40s, three women in their 40s, four men in their 50s, five women in their 50s, two men in their 60s, three women in their 60s, a woman in her 70s and a woman in her 90s.

Of the 598 La Salle County residents tested Wednesday, the latest data available from the Illinois Department of Public Health, 4.8% of them were returned positive for COVID-19. From April 1-7, the county’s seven-day positivity rate was 4.3% — down 0.2% from the previous day.
