La Salle County coronavirus update: County sees 277th COVID-related death; 5.77% of population fully vaccinated

A La Salle County man in his 70s died from complications related to COVID-19.

His death is the 277th COVID-related death since the beginning of the pandemic and the 46th death in 2021.

There were 25 new cases of COVID-19 and 88 residents were removed from isolation. Since the beginning of the pandemic, there have been 10,812 confirmed and probable cases, and of those cases, 8,542 have been removed from isolation.

There were 299 more doses of the COVID-19 vaccine administered to La Salle County residents Wednesday. In total, there have been 21,532 doses administered to residents, with 6,316 residents fully vaccinated, making up 5.77% of the county’s population.

The IDPH’s ZIP code data (which sometimes lags behind county numbers) of total cases since the start of the pandemic, with increases since Wednesday’s report, shows:

• Sheridan is up 21 to 692 (430 at Sheridan Correctional Center pending Thursday night’s updated numbers).

• Sandwich is up five to 1,158.

• Ottawa is up four to 2,090.

• Streator is up four to 1,851.

• La Salle is up three to 1,014.

• Marseilles is up three to 720.

• Seneca is up three to 283.

• Mendota is up two to 1,180.

• Peru remains at 1,134.

• Oglesby remains at 441.

• Somonauk remains at 346.

• Earlville remains at 226.

• Utica remains at 179.

• Leland remains at 158.

• Wenona remains at 101.

• Tonica remains at 91.

• Grand Ridge remains at 86.

• Lostant remains at 62.

• Serena remains at 54.

• Millington remains at 49.

• Ransom remains at 37.

• Rutland remains at 24.

• Cedar Point remains at 24.

• Dana remains at 23.

• Troy Grove remains at 16.

A man in his 70s, three men in their 60s, two women in their 60s, two men in their 50s, a woman in her 50s, four men in their 40s, a woman in her 40s, two men in their 30s, three men in their 20s, three women in their 20s, a teenage boy, a teenage girl, and a boy younger than 13 make up the new cases Thursday.
