La Salle County coronavirus update: County reaches 250 COVID-19-related deaths

60 new cases; 17 removed from isolation Wednesday

La Salle County reached 250 COVID-19-related deaths since the beginning of the pandemic, as the COVID-19-related death of a man in his 40s was reported Wednesday by the La Salle County Health Department.

The LCHD report also showed 60 new confirmed and probable COVID-19 cases to bring that total to 9,662 and 17 individuals previously reported to have cases released from isolation to bring that total to 6,628.

The number of known, active cases in La Salle County is 2,784.

Of the 1,242 La Salle County residents tested Sunday, the latest data available from the Illinois Department of Public Health, 3.2% were positive, a 10.4% drop from the day before. From Jan. 11 to 17, the positivity rate was 6.8%.

In La Salle County, 5,537 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered, with 802 residents (0.73% of the population) fully vaccinated against the disease. Vaccine distribution figures are reported in real time while vaccine administration figures are reported with up to a 72-hour lag.

One boy and two girls under the age of 13, one boy and two girls in their teens, five men and four women in their 20s, three men and four women in their 30s, eight men and four women in their 40s, six men and six women in their 50s, five men and one woman in their 60s, one man and three women in their 70s, two men and one woman in their 80s and one woman in her 90s made up Wednesday’s 60 new cases.
