La Salle County coronavirus update: Streator, Ottawa both have double-digit upticks in new cases Friday

Number of known, active cases in county at 2,750

There are 63 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19, 26 individuals previously reported to have had cases removed from isolation and no COVID-19-related deaths reported Friday by the La Salle County Health Department.

The 63 new cases elevate the county’s running total since mid-March to 9,392, with the 26 new recoveries bringing that running count to 6,394. The number of COVID-19-related deaths in La Salle County remains at 248, with the number of known, active cases currently standing at 2,750.

Thursday a man in his 90s became La Salle County’s 248th reported death related to COVID-19. There were 85 newly reported cases and 111 individuals previously reported to have had cases removed from isolation.

In La Salle County, 4,291 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered, an increase of 182 from the previous day’s data, with 795 residents (0.73% of the population) fully vaccinated against the disease. Vaccine distribution figures are reported in real time, while vaccine administration figures are reported with as much as a 72-hour lag.

Of 586 La Salle County residents tested Tuesday, the latest data available from the Illinois Department of Public Health, 5.6% tested positive, a decrease of 1.5% from the previous day. From Jan. 6 to 12, 7.2% of county residents tested came back positive for COVID-19.

The IDPH’s ZIP code data (which sometimes lag behind county numbers) of total cases since the start of the pandemic, with increases since Thursday’s report, show:

One woman in her 90s, one woman and one man in their 80s, one woman and two men in their 70s, five women and six men in their 60s, six women and five men in their 50s, five women and four men in their 40s, two women and two men in their 30s, seven women and four men in their 20s, three girls and one boy in their teens, and three girls and four boys under the age of 13 made up Friday’s new cases.
