First grade class raises the most money

The first grade class at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic School in Streator raised the most money among other classes in a competition to collect coins for the Streator United Way.

Students at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic School in Streator raised $1,388 for Streator United Way.

Students preschool through eighth grade competed against each other, as classes, to see who could raise the money throughout the week of Jan. 30, in celebration of Catholic Schools Week.

The first grade class won the contest, bringing in the most coins.
