In the latest Associated Press Illinois Prep Basketball Poll, the Serena Huskers girls basketball team (20-2) remained eighth in Class 1A, while Fieldcrest’s girls (19-1) slipped from sixth to eighth in Class 2A after suffering their first defeat of the season this week to another 2A team receiving votes, Eureka.
No area boys basketball teams cracked the top 10s, although Somonauk is on the “others receiving votes” list for Class 1A, tied for the de facto No. 17 spot.
Serena 89, DuPue 49: At Serena on Tuesday, the host Huskers were in control throughout, led by 18 points from Camden Figgins, 15 from Braldey Armour, 12 by Tanner Faivre and 10 courtesy of Ben Shugrue.

Ottawa 65, Rochelle 50: At Rochelle, Cooper Knoll scored 18 points and Huston Hart 16 to lead the Corsairs to the win. Dejaun Dawson added 10 points.
Marquette 56, Newark 26: At Newark on Tuesday, Charlie Mullen scored 15 points, Denver Trainor 13, Carson Zellers 12 and Pete McGrath 10 for the Crusaders, who blew the game open with an 18-4 second quarter.
Tops for the Norsemen were Ryan Woods with eight points and Jackson Leggett with seven.
