At Dwight on Monday, the visiting Marquette Crusaders received an 18-point, four-rebound, five-steal performance from Lilly Craig in scoring a 52-30, Tri-County Conference victory and improve to 4-1 (1-1) on the young season.
Avery Durdan added 10 points and five rebounds, Josie Eager eight points, eight assists and five steals, and Izzy Garkey nine points and a half dozen steals for the victorious Crusaders.
Brooke Vigan scored 10 points for Dwight (1-4 0-2).
Fieldcrest 60, Heyworth 40: At Minonk, the host Knights improved to 7-0 overall and 1-0 in the Heart of Illinois Conference with another dominating effort.
Kaitlin White knocked down four 3s on her way to 23 points. Ashlyn May added 13 points, five steals and five assists, with Ella Goodrich contributing 10 points, seven steals and five assists. Carolyn Megow pitched in six points.
Seneca 38, Putnam Co. 16: At Seneca, the host Fighting Irish (4-2 overall, 2-0 Tri-County) notched the TCC triumph after leading 19-5 by the halftime break.
Ten girls scored for Seneca, led by Kennedy Hartwig and Harleigh Varland with seven points apiece and Alyssa Zellers and Addie Eltrevoog with five points each.
“We’re taking steps in the right direction, and it’s fun to see the girls get more confident in their roles,” Seneca coach Brian Holman said.
Boys bowling
Mendota 3,299, Streator 3,251: In a matchup of former conference rivals, the Bowlin’ Bulldogs won the first two games but lost the match despite a 675 high series from Brady Grabowski (256, 204, 214 high games), Adam Jakupcak’s 604 (210, 235), Anthony Dominic’s 604 (214) and Keith Scott’s 596 (233).
Over the weekend, Streator placed 10th in the 26-team Plainfield South Invite in Joliet. Leaders included Grabowksi with a six-game 1,368 (269, 217, 205), Dominic’s 1,191 (201, 213, 246) and Jakupcak’s 1,089 (221, 202, 201). Ben Pond (210) added a 200-plus high game as well.

Ottawa 45, Serena 7: At Serena, the Corsairs (2-0) won led by 13 points from Marlie Orlandi, eight from Morgan Stone and six courtesy of Haley Larsen.
Marquette 40 Dwight 12: At Dwight, Makayla Backos (11 points), Chloe Larson (nine) and Morgan Nelson (six) led Marquette to the road victory.
JV boys bowling
Mendota 1,036, Streator 892: Jaxin Goodrich led the Bowlin’ Bullpups with a 316 series (133 high game).
Freshman boys basketball
Marquette 50, Bureau Valley 28: Julian Alexander scored 17 points and AJ Phalen 14 for Marquette in the victory.
