Marquette Academy’s Addie McConnaughhay (seated center) will continue her academic and volleyball careers at Benedictine College, an NCAA Division III school in suburban Lisle. With her at her signing were (also seated) her mom and MA volleyball coach Mindy McConnaughhay and her father, Jamie McConnaughhay and (standing) Marquette assistants Cordy Pena and Jaci Miller. McConnaughhay, a four-year starter and the school record holder for digs, was a Times all-area first team and Tri-County first team selection in 2021. “at first I wasn’t going to play volleyball and was gung-ho to go to a big school like Northern Illinois,” said McConnaughhay, who will major in psychology, “but we visited Benedictine just in case. I met the coach and she 100% changed my mind on everything. It’s a small-school atmosphere like Marquette, so I felt so comfortable there. It was crazy.”
