Waltham 8s get win over Grand Ridge
The Waltham eighth-grade boys basketball team beat Grand Ridge, 47-35, paced by a 27-point performance from Nick Olivero. Mikey Hartman added 11 points, six assists and four steals. Zach Pocivasek had six rebounds.
The Waltham seventh-grade boys basketball team fell, 33-29, despite John Sowers’ 16 points, Regan Doerr’s four points and eight rebounds and Jett Hill’s four points and five assists.
Wallace cagers notch victories
Wallace’s boys basketball teams earned three wins in recent action.
The sixth-graders beat Waltham, 21-16. Lucas Craig had nine points and seven rebounds and Jack Carroll added five points and six rebounds. They beat Marseilles, 32-15, and Craig had 15 points and five rebounds with Carroll adding seven points and five boards. The Wallace fifth graders beat Waltham, 26-4. Michael Johnson had seven points and Jake Torres five.
Shepherd sweeps Bureau Valley
The seventh-grade boys from Shepherd (3-1) edged Bureau Valley, 31-30, led by Archer Cechowicz with nine points, Lucas Farabaugh with six, and Jax Addis and Hezekiah Joachim each with four.
The eighth-grade Rams (2-2) also won a thriller, 30-29, in overtime. They were paced by Noah Gross’ 10 points, Tristan Finley’s nine points, including the game-winning free throw with five seconds left in overtime, and Deklan Gage with five points.
