Ottawa family enjoying skating, playing hockey on home ice

It is very common for families in the northern United States and Canada to have makeshift skating rinks in their yards during the winter months.

But here in Illinois, with, at times, a drastic daily change in the temperatures, seeing kids skating on “home ice” isn’t an everyday sight.
