Mazzochi offers Westmont blood drive, COVID testing

WESTMONT – In response to the national blood shortage, State Rep. Deanne Mazzochi (R-Elmhurst) will sponsor a blood drive. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 10 at the Westmont Centre at 1 S. Cass Ave. in Westmont.

Versiti Blood Center of Illinois will visit the district to gather much needed blood donations, a news release stated. Free COVID and COVID antibody testing also will be available, in partnership with IndiviDx.

“There’s both a dire need for blood donations and a need for fast, accurate COVID testing,” Mazzochi said in the release. “I’m bringing back both Versiti and IndiviDx to the district because these services are so important for our community.”

Walk-ins are welcome, but as a COVID-19 precaution and to save time, making an appointment for blood donation is strongly preferred. Interested blood donors can make an appointment to donate by visiting RepMazzochi.com or by contacting her office at 630-852-8633.

“While I want as many people as possible to help us address this current crisis by donating blood, you do not need to donate blood in order to get this free COVID testing service,” Mazzochi said.
