Summer Concert Series returns in Downers Grove

First performance set for May 25

The Downers Grove Park District’s Summer Concert Series is back beginning with a performance on May 25.

The 13-week concert series will bring free live music to Downers Grove on Tuesday evenings through Aug. 17.

The family-friendly concerts will be held at Veterans Memorial Pavilion in Fishel Park, 1036 Grove St. Admission is free, but advanced tickets are required for entry to meet capacity requirements. Concerts begin at 7 p.m. and food, beer and wine sales will begin at 6 p.m.

Advanced tickets will be available online at 5 p.m. one week prior to each concert date. Online tickets for the May 25 concert will be available at 5 p.m. beginning May 18. The concerts also will be live streamed on the Downers Grove Park District’s YouTube channel. For information about tickets, live streaming and more, visit dgparks.org.

Darby Beasley, the park district’s community events and sponsorship specialist, said that the concerts will look a little different this year. Masks will be required while not seated and guests will be asked to socially distance from non-household individuals. As the district navigates evolving state guidelines as a result of the pandemic, the format and safety guidelines at the Summer Concert Series may change throughout the summer.

Adult beverages will be available to visitors ages 21 and up for $6 [ID required] and water will be available for $2 a bottle. Beer options will include Stella Artois, Bell’s Two Hearted Ale and Alter Center Line. Wine and alcoholic coolers also will be available. Returning food vendors will include Sarpino’s Pizzeria, Every Day’s a Sundae and Well’s Street Popcorn.

The 2021 lineup will feature rock, country, blues and oldies from local tribute and cover bands.
