Berwyn school districts to help distribute COVID vaccine

Covid-19 vaccine syringes sit on a tray ready to be used during a vaccination event at the Schreiber Center for Human Services in Round Lake. The event was sponsored by the Lake County Health Department, Catholic Charities and the Doctors Test Centers. Every Saturday from 10-4 p.m. vaccinations will be available by appointment only. (4/10/21)

Berwyn North School District 98 and Berwyn South School District 100 will help distribute 1,200 Moderna COVID-19 vaccines for the Berwyn community with Positive Health Services beginning at 10 a.m. May 8 at Lincoln Middle School, 6432 16th St., Berwyn.

Heritage Middle School will host the second location for vaccines at 10 a.m. May 15 at 6850 W 31st St in Berwyn.

Both locations will help distribute 600 vaccines for a total of 1,200. Second dose appointments will be scheduled during the first vaccination appointment. Individuals are eligible if they are a Berwyn resident or work in Berwyn and are at least 18 years of age.

This effort was created in part to increase vaccinations among adults in Berwyn as there have not been many mass vaccination efforts in the community. Both school districts offer a location to provide options for adults living on the north and south sides of Berwyn.

Registration has been made easy for those interested. Links have been shared by both school districts interested in either location. Lincoln Middle School will deliver the second dose on June 5 and Heritage Middle School will deliver the second dose on June 12. Both locations will remain open from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Positive Health Services is delivering the Moderna COVID-19 vaccines to both locations at each school district. They will provide all the necessary equipment and medical supplies to ensure 1,200 individuals are vaccinated. They are a home health care agency that is independently owned and operated.
