Downers Grove Park District to offer limited programming

Fitness center, track, driving range shelter open

Gov. JB Pritzker on Tuesday announced that Region 8 [DuPage and Kane counties] has entered Tier 1 of the state’s mitigation plan. Please note that the mitigation measures outlined by the Illinois Department of Public Health for Tier 1 do not alter the Downers Grove Park District’s operations for programs and facilities at this time. The park district will continue to offer small group recreation programs, limit capacity at open facilities and require all participants to wear face coverings at all times.

The park district remains committed to following the state guidelines to help slow the spread of COVID-19. The district asks the community to help in this effort by following state guidelines and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommendations.

Participants registered for an indoor recreation program that was set to begin in January will be emailed by the program supervisor with an update regarding registration. Programs that have been canceled and refunded will remain canceled.

All programs set to begin in February will run as scheduled, depending on enrollment. Group sizes will be limited to 10 participants or less. All participants will be temperature scanned upon arrival, and face coverings are required at all times.

4500 Fitness is open to members by reservation only. Face coverings are required at all times. Forty members are permitted per workout time slot. Workout times will be extended to 90 minutes beginning Jan. 28. Premier fitness classes will resume as scheduled. A new group exercise schedule has been posted. View the schedule.

The indoor track is open to the community and members by reservation only. Face coverings required at all times. Additionally, the driving range shelter at the Downers Grove Golf Club is open.

The following facilities will be closed until further notice:

  • Lincoln Center
  • Lyman Woods Interpretive Center
  • Downers Grove Museum
  • Administrative Office
