The community voted to support the $136.6 million facility renovation plan for the two high schools in March 2018, the release stated. As a result of the passage of the referendum, air-conditioning was installed in all learning spaces in August 2018, before the first day of school. Construction then continued, and was completed before the first day of school Aug. 13.

Designs for both schools focused on safety and security, accessibility and modern learning spaces. In addition to secured entry vestibules, new additions were built to house science, fine arts and culinary classes. And both schools now have large Learning Commons areas featuring abundant natural light and seating.
