High school sports roundup for Friday/Saturday, Sept. 10-11: Willowbrook volleyball wins Leyden Invite, runs record to 13-0

Willowbrook at Leyden Invite

The Warriors went 5-0 to win the championship of the Leyden Invite and improve their record to 13-0 on the season.

Willowbrook beat Conant in the final 25-16, 25-17. Calli Kenny had 11 kills and eight digs, Hannah Kenny five kills and 15 assists, Hope Reckamp had six kills and Katie Linnig nine assists. Before that Willowbrook beat Leyden 25-11, 25-6. Calli Kenny had six kills and five aces and Hannah Kenny six assists and five digs. The Warriors also beat Lake Forest 25-20, 25-20, Lane Tech 25-6, 25-6 and DePaul Prep 25-9, 25-14.

Benet d. Downers Grove North 26-24, 25-21

Sam Buckley had 39 assists and three digs, Ava Novak 10 kills, Caelin Abramic seven kills and five digs and Aniya Warren nine digs for Benet (9-1).

BOYS SOCCER

Downers Grove South 1, Glenbard East 1

Edgar Duenas scored a first-half goal for the Rams in a game in which both goals were scored in the first half. Michael Urias had 10 saves in goal for Glenbard East.

BOYS GOLF

Wheaton Academy 151, Aurora Central Catholic 185

Sam Dykema shot a 36 to pace the Warriors at Phillips Park in Aurora. Joe Luchtenburg carded a 38, Ben Eldersveld a 39 and Henry Eldersveld a 39.
