High school sports roundup for Saturday, April 17: Kiley Koziol strikes out 13, Ava Hartsell homers in Glenbard West softball’s win

SOFTBALL

Glenbard West 10, Glenbard East 5

Kiley Koziol struck out 13 and scattered five hits, and Ava Hartsell went 4-for-4 with a homer and four RBIs for the Hilltoppers. Allison Ciero was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and Maddie Koslow 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Homewood-Flossmoor 13, Lemont 7

Emma Kucharski hit two homers and drove in five runs, and Frankie Rita also homered for the Indians. Losing pitcher Maddy Wallace was 2-for-3 with a triple.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Glenbard East d. Glenbard North 25-22, 25-19

Madison Manning had 10 kills and 10 digs, Julia Slusher 20 digs and Kendall Crackel 12 digs and four kills for the Rams (10-3). Becca Honig added 10 assists and Riley Alstott eight assists and three digs.

GIRLS SOCCER

Wheaton Academy 4, Deerfield 1

Kelly Bickhart scored two goals, and Eva DeSouza and Lily Lebo each scored one goal for the Warriors at the PepsiCo Showdown Series at Olympic Park. Amy Alexander and Anna Africa had assists.

Hinsdale Central 6, Hinsdale South 0 (Friday)

Fallon Limberg scored two goals and Maggie Sanders, Cate McDonald, Maddy Panveno and Hanna Florence each scored one goal for the Red Devils. Rania Arain had the shutout in goal.

BASEBALL

Lyons 15, Downers Grove North 14 (9 innings)

The Lions (3-0) swept the series, with Luke Stockbridge credited with the win. Luke Wilson had a two-out, two-run double in the seventh inning for Downers Grove North to send the game to extra innings.
