Morris Lions Club to host Halloween Costume Contest

Judging will be Thurday, Oct. 28 on Grundy County Courthouse lawn

MORRIS — Whether the youngsters at your house plan to be ladybugs or storm troopers, zombies or teddy bears, everyone in costume is encouraged to gather at 4:15 p.m. on the front lawn of the Grundy County Courthouse on Thursday, Oct. 28.

The Morris Lions Club will once again be hosting the annual Halloween Costume Contest on the lawn in front of the Grundy County Courthouse. Parents are encouraged to bring children in costumes to the courthouse lawn between 4:15 and 4:30 to register before the judging starts at 4:30. Prizes will be awarded after 5 in the following age groups: ages 0-2, ages 3-4, ages 5-6, ages 7-8, ages 9-10, ages 11-12, and ages 13 and up. Adults are encouraged to come in costume as well, to be judged in the 13 and up category. In case of bad weather, the judging will be moved to Eagles Hall, across from the courthouse.

Following the announcement of the winners, treats will be provided by the Morris Lions, so everyone should have a bag or container for treats. The downtown merchants will be offering treats as well for costumed Halloween participants, starting at 5 p.m., after the Halloween Costume Contest concludes, until 7 p.m.

Families are encouraged to join in the festivities, which provide a safe and fun way to start the Halloween celebration. Anyone with questions about the event can call Lion Lori Linn at 815-942-8262.
