It’s a yarn-splosion!

Local artists decorate downtown Morris

MORRIS – Anyone traveling on Liberty Street in downtown Morris has noticed that many lamp posts, street lights and anything else is covered with yarn creations. Jane Kerr of Apple Butter and Shugie’s organized the decorating, hoping to bring people to the downtown area.

“I did it for the Morris Retail Association,” she said. “We got permission from the City Council to decorate Liberty, Washington and Main streets. We are going to have the decorations up from May 1 until Sept. 1. There are a lot already up, but we have even more to still put up. There are about 70 people that have donated their time to make the decorations. We hope we can get some people to come downtown to look at them and to visit our downtown businesses.”
