New Community Christian Church volunteers time at mobile food pantry

Pantry was sponsored by Goodwill of Morris

MORRIS – Members from New Community Christian Church helped We Care of Grundy County pass out food at the April 17 mobile pantry, sponsored by Goodwill of Morris.

156 families and 486 individuals in need were given groceries consisting of mixed meats, fresh eggs, a 31-pound meat/dairy and produce box and two boxes of shelf stable food (canned fruits and vegetables, rice, cereal etc.).

“What a great day. To see our community working together to serve others was so encouraging,” Pastor Kevin Yandell of New Community Christian Church said. “We Care of Grundy County, Grundy County Emergency Services, New Community Christian Church, and several other volunteers. When we serve, we show true compassion for others. We are so glad to be part of these efforts.”

Upcoming mobile food pantries will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturdays, May 15 and June 19 in the parking lot of the Goodwill store, 414 Arthur Ave., Morris.
