New home added to MDDP’s Heritage Homes list

425 Vine St. is most recent addition

MORRIS – Another home has received the Morris Downtown Development Partnership’s Heritage Home designation.

This beautiful prairie-style home, located at 425 Vine St., was built by Dr. William Sachse. It is a copy of American architect Frank Lloyd Wright’s work and features quarter sawn oak, 16 stained glass door panels and a porte chochere. The bow window in the dining room was the first in Morris, and the fireplace, made of burnt ceramic tile, was imported from Italy. Other features include a curved solid oak built-in buffet, a built-in wood box, book cases and beveled glass.

The current owner of the home is Jeff Dundek.

The Morris Heritage Home project is sponsored by the Historic Preservation Committee of the Morris Downtown Development. The project serves to identify historic homes within the city of Morris, to encourage their preservation and to promote awareness. To qualify, a house must be at least 75 years old, in good condition and preserved, rehabbed or enlarged to maintain its original style and character.
