Shredding, e-waste events to be held by Grundy County Land Use Department

Shredding will be April 21, e-waste will be April 24

MORRIS – The Grundy County Land Use Department is hosting two events for residents to recycle paper and electronic waste.

On April 21, residents will have the opportunity to participate in a shredding event. The land use department will host an e-waste event April 24.

Shredding event

The Grundy County Land Use Department will be hosting a shredding event for residents from 10 a.m. to noon April 21. The event will take place in the front parking lot of the Grundy County Administration Building, 1320 Union St. in Morris.

This event saves residents the time and cost of shredding sensitive documents. It also benefits the environment, as the most recoverable material will be recycled.

Residents are asked to limit their shredding materials to two standard paper ream boxes in order for more people to be able to participate. Participating residents should pull into the parking lot completely so that no cars are on Union Street.

The process used at the shredding event is as follows:

1. Paper is dumped into a shredding device that is part of a box truck.

2. Documents are shredded on-site by a shredder located inside the box truck.

3. Shredded paper is weighed and then recycled.

The land use department appreciates residents’ efforts in recycling and looks forward to seeing them at this event. Those with questions may call the land use department at 815-941-3228.
