Winter storm on its way

MORRIS – There is a winter storm heading in the direction of central to northern Illinois, including Morris and Grundy County, according to the latest post on the Grundy County Emergency Management Agency’s Facebook page.

The Grundy EMA has posted a map from the U.S. National Weather Service in Chicago showing that Morris and Grundy County is in the portion of Illinois that should begin seeing snow from 2 to 4 p.m.

According to the post, residents should expect the following: Snow will develop from south to north from midday through early evening. That snow will change to freezing rain or wintry mix south of Interstate 80 in the late day, and the heaviest snow is expected from early to midevening.

The following actions are requested:

• Prepare for extra travel time.

• Check road conditions before driving.

• Slow down and increase distance when driving.
