Grundy County awarded Local CURE economic support grant

MORRIS – Grundy County officials recently applied for a grant to assist local restaurants and bars impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic through the Local Coronavirus Urgent Remediation Emergency Support Program. The county announced in a news release Dec. 30 that the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity approved Grundy County’s grant application.

Restaurants and bars located within incorporated and unincorporated Grundy County are encouraged to complete grant applications, which can be found at www.grundyco.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Local-CURE-Subrecipient-Application.pdf.

Due to Local CURE program guidelines, time to receive and process applications is limited. Grant funding will be awarded based on eligibility requirements, funding availability and economic impact. Priority will be given to locally owned and operated establishments. Those wishing to submit must:

• Include a completed application and a signed state of Illinois grant certification

• Own a restaurant or bar that is located in Grundy County

Applications must be received by 4:30 p.m. Jan. 11. Applications may be turned in to the Grundy County Administration Building, Attn: Matt Melvin, 1320 Union St., Morris, IL 60450, or they may be submitted electronically to curesgrant@grundyco.org

”We are thrilled to have the opportunity to provide financial assistance to our local restaurants and bars,” Grundy County Board Chairman Chris Balkema said. “Local restaurant and bar entrepreneurs that take a risk and invest in our community will hopefully be able to see a small bit of relief through this federal assistance package.
