Voluntary Action Center of Northern Illinois seeks volunteers to help deliver meals to homebound seniors and disabled individuals in need, as isolation continues to impact the health of seniors.
Meal delivery begins at 10:45 a.m. Monday through Friday, to seniors in several convenient neighborhood routes. Meals on Wheels drivers must have a valid driver’s license and use their own vehicle.
This is a perfect service project for active retirees, busy professionals and stay-at-home parents. Volunteers can choose how frequently they want to volunteer, and their availability Monday through Friday. Volunteer drivers stop into VAC to pick up fresh meals and then make the deliveries to those on their routes.
Through VAC safety guidelines, volunteers can securely deliver meals without personal contact, yet still making a human connection, assuring the safety of both the senior clients and the volunteers.
