SYCAMORE – Guided walking tours offered by the DeKalb County History Center will return this summer on the second Sunday of the month. Attendees can discover the stories connected to the many historic buildings in town during these tours.
The guided tour of Somonauk Street will kick off the summer tours on Sunday, June 13. Led by Stephen Bigolin, who has a strong background and knowledge of DeKalb County history, tours will explore the architectural and historical significance of the homes along Somonauk Street.
Additional tours will be offered throughout the summer: July 11, Main Street; Aug. 15, DeKalb Ave.; and Sept. 12, downtown Sycamore.
The June 13th tour begins at 1 p.m. and will last about 90 minutes. Meet at the Wally Thurow statue (across from Shawn’s Coffee Shop). Advance registration is required. The cost of the tour is $5 per person (which will be collected upon arrival), and handouts with information on highlighted locations will be provided.
