Woodland D-50 to host annual holiday food drive

Effort provides additional support to families during holiday season

GURNEE – Woodland District 50 is calling on staff and families to help support the annual holiday food drive.

Last year, the effort served more than 150 families and distributed more than 200 coats through Operation Warm.

The annual food drive is the district’s way of bringing the community together and providing additional support to Woodland families during the holiday season. With your help, organizers hope to collect food and raise money to assemble food packages and other needed items for families.

There are several ways to participate:

• Food donations: Bring donations to school or drop off donations at the district office. Donations are being accepted through Dec. 10.

• Financial donations: Your donation will go toward purchasing food and other needed items for Woodland families.

• Receive a food package: Woodland families are invited to self-register if they wish to receive a food basket, or you can nominate a deserving family that may need support.

• Book with an Educator, Dec. 6: Woodland staff members will read their favorite books virtually in support of the annual food drive. Join us for a relaxing night in your pajamas and cozy up for a good book. You can listen to a story from any of our volunteers from all of the buildings.
