Hawthorn Mall to host ‘Hawthorn 2.0 fall kick-off’ event

Shopping center showcases mixed-use transformation

VERNON HILLS – Hawthorn Mall in Vernon Hills invites the community to its Hawthorn 2.0 Fall Kick-Off event celebrating the center’s progress toward its transformation into a mixed-use development with hundreds of luxury apartments and outdoor dining and retail experiences.

The event takes place from noon to 2 p.m. Sept. 18 in the outer lot near AMC Theatres. The first 100 participants will receive a Hawthorn 2.0 swag bag. The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required at https://bit.ly/3i4qWNh.

During the event, there will be food available for purchase from food trucks, including Stan’s Donuts, Flyin Hawaiian, Lucky Burger and Grill, Zorro Tacos and Mamma Mia Pizza, and food vendors, including Angela’s Caribbean Cuisine, Cinnabon and GoGo Squeez. At the event, there will be games, live music and a photo opportunity with the community time capsule. Local officials will be on hand for the time capsule spearheaded by the village of Vernon Hills.
