GRAYSLAKE – Knight says, “I appeared in someone’s backyard about three or four years ago and lived outside with another dog during this time.
“I walk well on a leash, I sit, and I’m even learning how to give paw. Spending these years outside without seeing a vet has taken a little toll on me. See, I tested positive for heartworm but now that I’m here, I’m getting treated for it.
“I really like soft treats and wet food – it tastes so good, much better than that dry stuff.”
Because Knight tested positive for heartworm, he is looking for a home that will foster him while Save-A-Pet continues to coordinate and pay for his veterinarian care. Once Knight is cleared of heartworm, the family could then officially adopt him.
Knight is about 8 years old, neutered, up to date on shots (including rabies) and on preventive and microchipped.
Meetings and adoptions are by appointment only (no walk-ins). For information and/or to complete an online application, go to www.saveapetil.org/adopt.
