Work to begin on walking path at Lake Villa District Library

Path to connect upper parking lot to lake side of building, to be ADA compliant

LINDENHURST – Construction soon will begin on an Americans with Disabilities Act compliant walking path connecting Lake Villa District Library’s upper parking lot to the lake side of the building.

“Developing the green spaces has always been a component of our landscaping plan,” Library Director Mikael Jacobsen said in a news release. “And happily, one of the main takeaways from our recent community focus groups was the desire to use the green spaces. So this is a great step toward such usage.”

The path will wind along the north side of the building. Chicagoland Paving Contractors, the lowest bidder, recently was awarded the project by the library board. Work is expected to begin in May and take about six weeks.

“How nice will it be to have a garden to read a book at the library or host concerts or outdoor book discussions, etc.,” Jacobsen said. “The possibilities are endless.”
