Lake Villa man’s apartment was searched after joint narcotics investigation

LAKE VILLA – A Lake Villa man was charged April 23 with drug and firearms offenses after a joint narcotics investigation, police said.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Group and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives – Downers Grove Field Office and Chicago Field Office concluded a narcotics investigation that resulted in the arrest of a drug dealer and the seizure of a firearm.

On April 23, after the investigation, Lake County Sheriff’s Special Investigations Group detectives obtained a search warrant for the apartment of Anthony L. Brown, 38, of the 100 block of North Milwaukee Avenue, Lake Villa. Brown is a documented street gang member and currently on bond from a 2020 arrest made by the Lake County Sheriff’s Special Investigations Group, according to a news release.

During the search, Brown was found to be in possession of nearly 3 kilograms of powder cocaine and a semiautomatic firearm.

Brown has been charged with manufacturing/delivery of more than 900 grams of cocaine (Class X felony), unlawful possession of more than 900 grams of cocaine (Class X felony) and felon in possession of a firearm (Class 2 felony).

Brown was being held in the Lake County Jail on $750,000 bail. He is next due in court at 9 a.m. April 30 in Courtroom T020.
