Lake County Restaurant Rally to promote area eateries

In place of Lake County Restaurant Week, focus will be on supporting local businesses

GURNEE – Rally for great tasting foods with a fit for all budgets -- enjoy indoors, takeout, domes and outdoor fireplaces, with delectable flavors and dishes throughout Lake County as Visit Lake County kicks off its campaign supporting local eateries -- Lake County Restaurant Rally: Feed the Economy. These delicious 10 days run Feb. 26 to March 7.

In a week normally reserved for Lake County Restaurant Week, the focus will instead be encouraging residents to actively support the cuisine makers in their hometowns. Visit Lake County is working with communities, restaurants and eateries across Lake County, hosting this promotion to help reinvigorate the hospitality industry and offer a lift to the local economy.

“We’re here to support our communities. Food is nurturing, for our bodies and our souls, but it also provides the livelihoods for our neighbors and friends. We encourage all who can, to enjoy and support your local restaurants during this special 10 day time period,” Visit Lake County President Maureen Riedy said in a news release. “You’ll get amazing dishes and help bring a needed boost to businesses trying so hard to recover.”

Visit Lake County has created a dedicated “all-things” foods section, www.LakeCountyRestaurantRally.com, where you can find all the tastes, and spots, to “feed the economy” with the lift of a fork. By focusing local, diners can support the industry, this week and always, and keep business flowing and employees working. During Lake County Restaurant Rally, try these five easy steps:

Grab a bite: Return to your favorite restaurant safely or try a new dining experience. RSVP indoors, outdoors or get a feast to go.

Toast with Libations: Stop in for a taste, grab packaged Lake County Libation Trail beverages and include pre-mixed cocktails with your carryout meal.

Spend dollars locally: “Go direct” and place your carryout orders directly with the restaurant. While there, purchase a gift card for family and friends to use throughout 2021.

Spread the word: “Check-in” and “tag” the restaurant’s social media account on your visit. Post positive reviews, photos and videos.

Show your love: Consider tipping your servers and delivery drivers more than you’d normally give. Order a meal for delivery to your favorite charity or first responders.
