Schneider visits North Chicago vaccination site

Site opened Feb. 15 to serve more than 5,000 seniors in the area eligible for the vaccine

NORTH CHICAGO – Congressmen Brad Schneider, D-Deerfield, on Feb. 15 visited the new vaccine distribution site at the Lake County Forest Preserve’s Greenbelt Cultural Center in North Chicago.

Schneider, who represents the 10th District, reviewed vaccine distribution logistics and talked to those receiving the vaccine.

The site, which opened Feb. 15, will remain open for two months to serve more than 5,000 seniors in the area eligible for the vaccine. The site is targeting underserved communities that are particularly vulnerable to COVID-19. Waukegan and North Chicago residents 65 and older can make an appointment at Greenbelt by emailing their full name, birthday, email address and phone number to vaccine@northchicagocommunitypartners.org or by calling 847-582-1362.

“Many constituents are understandably anxious about when and how they can get their shot, “Schneider said in a news release. “We are seeing slow but steady progress as vaccine numbers continue to rise, though there are gaps, bottlenecks and other challenges that need to be addressed. I am doing everything I can in Washington and at home to speed this process up. The funding in the American Rescue Package will supplement America’s vaccine distribution infrastructure and help communities like those across Lake and Cook counties distribute more vaccine faster.”
