Lake Villa District Library seeks local artists to enhance facility

Township artists have opportunity to see their work in new building

LINDENHURST – In an effort to enhance the new library facility and promote the work of artists living in Lake Villa Township, the Lake Villa District Library is seeking proposals from local artists.

Artists who work in a variety of media – painting on canvas and paper, textiles and photography – are invited to submit proposals for consideration. The only stipulation is they need to live in Lake Villa Township.

“This is an opportunity for the artists of this community to participate in enhancing the beauty and impact of the new building,” said Kate Rettinger, LVDL Board of Trustees secretary. “We look forward to seeing the work they submit.”

Rettinger, board member Pat Gallagher, two area artists and two library staff members comprise the committee that will review submissions.

The new library building, which opened in August 2019, is 66,000 square feet and has plenty of natural light.

Artists who would like to be considered should send three photographs of their work along with a résumé to artcommittee@lvdl.org. The application deadline is June 30.
