Things to be thankful for in 2020

There’s an awful lot to be gloomy about right now — so what better time to count your blessings? While 2020 has been an unusual and rough year and at times feels like it will never end, there are things to be thankful for as business owners and community members. Oswego Area Chamber of Commerce President Angie Hibben offers this list:

  • Amazing patients and the opportunity to help them and keep them safe during a crisis such as the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Employees who have never wavered and are continuing to find ways to get things done while keeping themselves and customers safe. “They never stop smiling and are constantly adapting,” Hibben said.
  • Still being in business despite the coronavirus pandemic. “And grateful to all the customers who continue to support the businesses and work with them,” Hibben said.
  • Family members to ride out together the COVID-19 storm,
  • The health of friends and family and the bonding that has brought people closer. “Be thankful to have time to spend with family and forge a better relationship with them and customers,” said Hibben.
  • Amazing and supportive customers despite the challenges of social isolation.
  • Technology. Many businesses had to adjust to working remotely in response to the pandemic and advances in technology made it easier to do that.
  • Healthcare

In the last few weeks of 2020, consider taking a few minutes every day to just reflect on one thing you are thankful for. Whether it’s how you start your day or end it, find something for which you are grateful.

And, reminds Hibben, “stay focused, stay safe and 2021 will be here soon.”
